I wrote Since September in the weeks following September 11, 2001. Dozens of songs were written and shared around the world to honor and to simply remember these lives taken. We did not know then that we would continue to lose scores of First Responders in the years to come.

The photo above was taken at the Javits Center in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan in June 2002. Give Your Voice was led by the brave Cartier Family. They lost James in the south tower that day. Several Family members in attendance went on to create robust organizations and foundations to help with the healing and financial challenges that lay ahead. Many Family members have not been able to move on and they still wake up broken every day since that day.

More than two decades have passed with zero accountability or justice served for these victims. The least our government can do is to stop delaying and obfuscating to identify and prosecute all the criminals no matter where that truth leads us.

The least any of us can do for James and Lucy and Brad and Colleen and Tom and Daniel and Michael and thousands more we lost is to keep our promise to Never Forget.
